5 Week 1 Day Ultrasound

Our Little Valentine!

We are 5 weeks and 1 day according to my LMP.  The ultrasound tech found my gestational sac immediately (I have done so much research that I knew what I saw right away!), right where it was supposed to be!  The yolk sac isn't visible yet, but the tech said the earliest she has ever in her life seen one is 5 weeks 3 days.  I'm not going to stress out about it.  We get to go back in a week or two to make sure baby is growing properly!
Few moments in my life have felt this wonderful.  We are overflowing with gratefulness for this child.  Praying the Lord has his hand on this child and will protect him/her through a safe pregnancy and birth-and will use him/her for His Kingdom!

Week 5 Baby Buys

Okay, so I didn't pick up all of this stuff this week.
I have been stock-piling for a year and a half when I see good sales.  Sue me.
If you have any of these products and love these or hate them, give this first time momma some advice in a comment.

  1. Bamboobies-washable nursing pads.  They have a promo going right now to get a single pair for one penny, just pay shipping.  I "bought" four pairs.  Meh.  Why not.
  2. Newborn cloth diapers-Green Mountain Diapers and Various Diaper Covers.  Okay, technically these were for baby #1, so they have been in the nursery closet for some time.  We bought 24 orange-edge prefolds, some snappi fasteners and 5 rumparooz/Thirsties covers.  We plan on buying a few more newborn Thirsties covers and a variety of pocket and AIO diapers for post-newborn stage (anyone?  Brands?).  I think I'd like a few newborn fitteds, too- Cloth-eez Workhorse or Kissaluvs 2.0.
  3. ERGO Sport Carrier!  I found one at Marshalls for half price.  I almost peed.  Had I been more pregnant I probably would have.  They retail $120 and I paid $60 (well, Grandma did)!  I showed Daniel and he said he can't wait to wear it... thisisformebutokay.  I might just fall in love with him again for the 5000th time.
  4. Delta 4-in-1 Convertible Crib.  This was on clearance at Target because their white furniture is online only (I don't know how it got there because it was unopened).  It was marked down to $100 from $250.  Shhhyyyeah.
  5. Be Maternity BeBand.  Not needed quite yet but the bloat was so out of control last week that I wore maternity slacks to work for comfort (okay, and today for parent teacher conferences.  sowhat).  Judge if you want, I don't care.
  6. Bumbo Seat.  I actually bought this when I was periodically babysitting my niece over the summer while her grandma was out of town.  It was wonderful.  Got it second hand for $15.  Yes, I know it was recalled so that you would put a seat belt into it.  Got the attachment.  Leave me alone.  It's wonderful for play time on the floor.
  7. Maternity Clothes.  I have more maternity pants than real pants!  Not too many shirts, but thanks to the popularity of baggy sweaters and tunics, I have some things that should last me a while.  Thank you, thrift stores!
  8. Smitten Baby Wet 'n Dry Bag.  This is my most favorite thing ever. There are two compartments for clean/dirty.  The material is SO thick!  You cannot buy directly from the website, but it shows up on Zulily and Totsy often.  I should have gotten two, so I am on the prowl for another sale.  I bought this 16 square incher from Zulily for $22.  It came with 2 "sandwich pods" of the same pattern that I will use for randoms in the diaper bag.
  9. I almost forgot about our Pack 'N Play!  We found this Safety First Premiere Play Yard in Kensington at Babies R Us marked down to $40 from $180.  75% off areyoukiddingme.  My sister yelled at me for not putting something like this on our registry later, but I have never found a print I like in colors I like (neutral!).  This is perfection.  I think we are going to opt out of a separate bassinet and use this bad boy in our bedroom for the baby to sleep in for the first few months, then double it later for an mommy-needs-to-vacuum play pen.  I am not a huge fan of the storage and laundry bin on the side under the infant changer, but it zips off.  Why do people label "storage" or "laundry" as if you don't know what goes there?  Tacky.  I'm sure it will come in handy for middle-of-the-night changes.

I think we are off to a good start to get us excited.  Off this weekend to window shop and decide on big items we like.  Anything a new mom must have in your opinion?  Share!  I love THE BABY LIST put together by Styleberry Blog.  Check her out!

Long Time No See

I have had zero motivation to blog in say... months.  I see or do something and think.. hmm, I should blog this.  And then, of course, I don't.  Blogging has been so low on my priority list it's not even funny.  But, I am feeling like it again, so here goes.

The holidays were hard after losing a baby and still having trouble-well-making one.  I barely wanted to celebrate Christmas, but we managed.

We took an anniversary trip to New York City right before Christmas to celebrate 5 years of marriage.  We had a blast.  It was the first vacation we had ever taken by ourselves and not to see other people.  5 days of interrupted time with each other was just what we needed.  Our favorite things were probably seeing Wicked on Broadway, our food tour through Greenwich Village, and um- did I mention food?  So good.  We ate like piggies, but walked everywhere and my husband managed to lose 6 pounds, despite the 1 lb, $16 pastrami sandwich he scarfed at Katz's Deli.  We went to Mood, too, so I could buy some fabric!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We found out on New Years Eve that Daniel's sister, Rachel, had a brain tumor and found out two weeks ago that she has terminal brain cancer.  It's not something I want to blog about because it's just too close.  But, please pray for our family.  I know the Lord is good and I know that He loves us.  All other things I don't understand- but one day we will see redemption.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We found out last week that we are expecting!  I had told Daniel the week before we found out (when he asked me if I could test.. at 5 dpo.  NO, dear husband I cannot) that, go figure, this month of all months would be the month.  I forgot about being in the two-week-wait, which was actually refreshing from a fertility standpoint, although I would have given anything to be worrying about that rather than Daniel's sister. I woke up one morning and thought I should take a test because I could possibly be far enough along to get a positive (I was either 10 or 12 dpo), but wasn't expecting anything.  It came up right away!  Daniel had just left for work, so I made him come back home so I could tell him.  No elaborate surprise, just a hug on the stairs because we have a no-show rule in the house.  We are so overjoyed and so grateful.  My betas look great and have been tripling every 48 hours, so we have an early ultrasound scheduled this Thursday.  There is a silver lining after losing a baby- early monitoring!  We are due October 16th.  Love fall!

It's such a weird time right now.  It's hard to understand how to be as sad as you have ever been, to feel as broken as you could ever be, but be as joyful as you can imagine at the exact same time.  Still trying to figure that out, and not sure we ever will.  God's grace is with us daily.
We will post a video of our ultrasound later in the week!
