First Tri Baby Buys

I did a Week 5 Baby Buys, and then I never did another one.  So, considering I just got into the second trimester (so thankful), here are a few things we have invested in up to this point.

  1. Hoover Steerable Wind Tunnel Air.  And, how is this for baby?  We had a really junky thrift-store clunker I bought for $20 that smelled like burnt hair that we had been using for several years.  We are in the process of shampooing and cleaning the carpets for Bebe, which means we have to vacuum first and this old one wasn't cutting it.  So, my sweet man went and bought me a new one.  WE LOVE IT.
  2. Best Chairs Quin Swivel Glider in Mist.  We had been debating comfort vs. rocking for the nursery, and finally found a chair that is both.  Love the color.  Gets delivered May 10.  Need for find a cute ottoman for my feets!
  3. Ultrasound Frame.  Daniel is an Civil Engineer, which = construction.  I bought it for him off of eBay for his office so that he could frame all of our ultrasound pictures.  It's darling!  I can't find it anymore, but it was only like $8.
  4. SMITTEN BABY on Totsy!!  One of my all time favorite baby brands so far (I have one already?  Love it).  I bought two wetbags from them and they are great.  Their colors and prints are gorgeous. Totsy has them as a deal of the week for the next TWO DAYS only.  Go check it out!  These are changing pad covers, which I know I can register for, but I have never seen on I like.  I bought these two colors because they match our nursery color pallet perfectly.  Two for when one is in the wash!
  5. Leachco Pregnancy Pillow.  Suckers retail for $50 and I got mine at a consignment sale for $10 and sewed a new cover for it for $5.  I love the support!
  6. Preggers Clothes.  I found some great skinny maternity jeans secondhand from a store and then on eBay (I loved them so much I had to buy another pair and they are discontinued.  =(  They are Loved by Heidi Klum for Motherhood Maternity) and scored some great basics (maxi skirts and leggings anyone!?) from Old Navy.  Good deals.
  7. CLOOTTHHH DIAPPPPERRRS.  I am slightly addicted to buying these!  I found this construction print (see #3) of the Charlie Banana One Size at our Target, 3 Applecheeks from LilTulips, and a few off of Craigslist (which my husband thinks is disgusting and "we can afford new diapers for our baby", but they were such a great deal-barely used if not brand new-and it's called a washing machine!). Two Size 0 Kissaluvs ($5 each!  Great deal), 1 NEW Bummis Super Whisper Wrap ($4), and 2 NEW Rumparooz Lil Joey AIO ($10 each).  Newborn stash is ready to go!

Nursery Plans

I'm a pretty picky gal.  I know, it's so awful of me.  I have been thinking and thinking and thinking of nursery plans since, well, we were TTCing a year and a half ago!  Have you been to StyleBerry Blog?  Freaking love her.  She wrote The Baby List of all the things she used and couldn't do without in terms of baby products.  Sure, every mom is different, but it's super comprehensive and a huge help.  Granted, I might not use the same things, but I don't have any background at this point besides years of daycare work.  I peaked at it a few times before we registered (yes, we already started because I have a shower coming up soon!) and was so thankful I did.

She posted a gender-neutral nursery for her son and I fell in love right away.  I'm making all of Bebe's bedding this summer, so I hope to find close to the same colors.  Not decided on prints yet, but there will be lots for sure!  (she links all of her products on the post.. just go there!)

Hello!  Gorg.  Our nursery lets in a lot of light like this and we already bought a white crib, so I need to start accumulating accessories.  I originally thought-yes, this will be for a boy.  Not sure on a girl's nursery yet.  But, I got to thinking that I love it so much, I will do it for a girl, too.  I'm not a huge fan of pink or purple anyway.

We have been obsessing over a chair.  I don't like rockers and traditional gliders. Not sure why, just looking for a different, well, "look" I guess.  Daniel is wanting a recliner, and I can't find one I like.  I want a big fluffy upholstered chair, but I worry I will miss the ability to rock.  Pottery Barn sells them for a whopping $1000, which is way too much.  We finally found this chair at Nebraska Furniture Mart:

We need to go see it in store (thankfully we live by one!), but I like the linen-look of the fabric.  Sew a throw pillow to match the bedding and get an ottoman and call it good!

So, I get the deal with the bumper debate- where do you stand?

13 Weeks!

How far along: 13 Weeks, 1 Day!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: None.  I lost about 6 lbs during my first trimester and am back to pre-preg weight.

Maternity clothes: Mostly just pants and flowy tops/tunics.  I tried the whole rubber-band trick, but that stopped working 2 weeks ago.  I can squeeze in to button them, but it's just so darn uncomfortable.  I found the most amazing maternity skinny jeans/jeggings (and the only reason I call them jeggings is I found them discontinued online from Motherhood Maternity and they called them "jeggings".  They are totally jeans!) at a consignment store and had to have another pair.  The only place I could find them was eBay!  They are on their way.  I got them both for about $12.  Love!

Stretch marks: None yet- I have some from adolescence but nothing new.  My-ahem-ladiesss have grown so much they are dry dry dry, so Palmer's cocoa butter is in the beauty regimen every morning post-shower and I think it totally reeks (it's cheap, and it is the best!).  Getting used to it.

Sleep: Weird!  I wake up every morning around 3am to potty and cannot get back to sleep.  I fell asleep almost every night at 6pm (I know, my poor lonely husband!) during those first few weeks, so I think I'm just not needing that much sleep anymore.  Need to do some nesting to stay awake until bed time!  When I know what gender this baby is, it's quilt time!  And, weird, weird dreams.  I woke up last night after dreaming my sister and I had been abducted, I was eating McDonald's french fries in the trunk, and she blew the man's head off so we could escape.  I found a maternity sleeping boppy at a consignment sale for $10 and made a new cover.  It is a miracle worker!   Best sleep of my life.

Best moment this week: Getting out of the first trimester (or being right at the end, depending on who you talk to).  I think after you wait so long to have a baby and then lose one, you have a hard time thinking you will ever make it past that scary time in the beginning.  I remember telling Daniel last week that I was just in shock that we were this far- I just never thought it would happen and I could not be more thankful.  So undeserving of such joy.

Movement: Not yet.  Can't wait.

Food cravings: Anything that won't give me heartburn. I have had a horrible time with it, but I didn't know that is was heartburn!  I just thought it was my nausea wearing off or something (which it was, thank the Lord).  Who knew!  I dislike it and love it at the same time.  Loving that my worries are heartburnI want Coke and any other pop, but it hates me right now.

Gender: Don't know yet, though I have my suspicions.  May 22nd is the day!

Labor signs: Zilch, thank goodness.  I've had some stretching pains in my hips every once in a while, but nothing else!  I've stopped freaking out that they are bad cramps-but they definitely get worse if I run around all day without enough rest or don't drink enough water.

Belly button - in or out? In.  Surrounded by a growing bump!

What I miss: Freaking cold cuts.  I would give anything for a cold turkey sandwich!

What I am looking forward to: Finding out what we're having!  Seeing my hubby be a daddy.  CLOTH DIAPERS (slowly growing my stash- got some fluff mail this week!  3 Applecheeks.  Love them!)
