First Tri Updates

Sorry for the lack of updates.  I think I have been asleep more than I have been awake the last month!  I am usually a pretty avid sleeper, but man, the last month has kicked my tush!  I have been asleep by 6pm most nights!  My poor husband has had to cook his own dinner almost every night.  Sigh...I hope this gets better for his sake!  Also, our house is a total mess.  There are actual dust bunnies.  I haven't vacuumed in a month!  I will post pictures once I actually clean and have redemptive photos.. because it's awful.

We have had 2 ultrasounds since my 5 week update.  We had to go in at 7 weeks to make sure we could see the yolk sac.  This is what we found:

A weetle baby!  I'm not sure if my doctor has new equipment, but we always are blessed with such detailed pictures!  You can see the baby's little eye and the start of arm buds on the right.  Baby is on it's side and facing right =).  We couldn't hear the heartbeat, but she could detect it at 141 bpm.

During this ultrasound, they found some blood in my uterus, which completely freaked me out.  They said it was no big deal, that it was just some blood left over from implantation of my placenta, and that most people have it, just never know about it because they haven't had a scan by this point.  I was put on pelvic rest for 2 weeks and told to come back at 9 weeks just to check on it.

Here is 9 weeks:

A little grape!  I can't believe the amount of growth in 2 weeks.  Blood was completely gone.  Yay!  Heartbeat was at 173 and we could hear it!  Baby was asleep at first and then I laughed and it woke up.  It was waving his little arms and legs all over!  We loved it.    Measuring again right on track. I think it's a boy without a doubt.. but, we will see.  I don't know if it's mother instinct or the fact that I want a son!  I can't think of anything better than having another little version of my sweet husband in this world.

We are so so thankful for the Lord's provision and blessings.
I have obviously been shopping.. I will do a baby buys update soon.  I need a nap first ;)

  2. I just found your blog and after reading through your older posts and your journey of infertility and loss, I just want to shout for joy at your wonderful news! I was struck by how similar our stories are. My husband & I tried to start a family for about 4 years - we got pregnant in February of 2012 and I miscarried just 4 short weeks later. 3 months after our loss, we got pregnant again and I am sitting here holding my son. He is 4 weeks old today, and the most amazing gift. I gave birth to him exactly 1 year to the day that we found out we were pregnant with our first baby.

Everything you wrote resonated with me - feeling grief and joy in the same breath, grieving over a child you never saw or got to hold, trying to cling to the Lord's promises and the knowledge of His goodness. I also relate to where you're at on your journey now. I looked back at my journal in the first trimester. It was a time of excitement but also such a scary time. Pregnancy after loss is so full of mixed emotions. I am praying for a continued safe and joyous pregnancy - enjoy every second, and take a lot of naps :)
